Globe Foundation is currently working with Save the Elephants, Purdue University, and Northern Rangelands Trust in a project intended to track the herding and grazing routes of cattle on either side of the Ewaso Ng'iro river as a means of testing cattle collaring equipment for future research and applications. This pilot project was initiated in order to develop sustainable land use plans, as this is a crucial means for understanding the interactions between human activities and wildlife. It is hoped that the research will also help to track the patterns of livestock movement, the interactions between cattle and wildlife, and the transmission of disease, while also helping to monitor whether or not cattle are remaining within their allotted grazing field. It is hopeful that this project will be successful, as Northern Rangelands Trust, the Globe Foundation, and Purdue University hope to further develop this program so that the process of cattle collaring may be applied to form a joint research project with Il Ngwesi, a program called "Research to Support Linking Livestock Markets to Wildlife Conservation.
